House heads – hold on to your hats.
The Legendary Mood II Swing are set to play MCR Finest’s very own BBQ and music festival Live From The Grill.
John Ciafone – half of the production and DJ team behind the likes of Free by Ultra Nate and dozens upon dozens of underground house records – will play both of the festival’s Sunday sessions on August 30.
Veterans of the New York house sound, Ciafone and production partner Lem Springsteen have blazed a trail since the early 90s, contemporaries of the likes of Masters at Work, Blaze, Basement Boys and Chez Damier.
As well as house classic Free, sung by Ultra Naté and which landed in the UK top 10 in 1997, the pair have remixed everyone from Janet Jackson and Lucy Pearl to Nuyorican Soul.
Ciafone joins a solid line-up, curated by Habitat, Band on the Wall and renae, including UK garage icon MJ Cole and homegrown hip-hop dons Children of Zeus, as well as the likes of Ruf Dug, Tia Cousins, AK Gramm, DJ Lenny and Medullaa.
It all happens on the roof of Depot Mayfield, with an equally solid line-up of chefs and pitmasters manning the grills.
Among them will be Staleybridge’s Cafe Continental, Stow, Winsome, Sister Moon, Pappy’s Texas BBQ, Blacklock, Kallos, Big Tray BBQ, 1415 Asado and the Michelin-starred Alchemilla from Nottingham and Maray.
Meanwhile, special collab merch will be available over the weekend with designs from Bound, Clints, Permanent Orbit and Hikerdelic.
