The legendary burger was created last year by Hawksmoors very own Michelin man and Executive Chef, Mr Matt Brown. Matt has been the Head Chef of not one, but two restaurants with three Michelin stars and the kitchens he’s been a part of have clocked up nine stars in total.
Needless to say, Matt Brown is a culinary genius. He enjoys working with the finer things in life, so recent Feasts at Borough’s Cooks’ Room (a dining room with private kitchen) have included Roast Oysters with Bone Marrow, Langoustines with Fennel Pollen and Charcoal-roasted Brill with Roast Chicken Butter.
But he also has a less serious side. Hence this three-star tribute to a childhood favourite. Originally created for the Hawksmoor Make America Great Again July 4th party at the Spitalfields Bar, the reaction was so spectacular they will be rolling it out once again. We can expect to see it back on the menu from Thursday 14th June at the Manchester Bar.
The burger boasts two dry-aged British beef patties with Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, shredded iceberg, house pickles and Hawksmoor special sauce, all piled into a sesame seed bun.
It is supposed to be a bit of a tribute to everyone’s favourite childhood meal- the McDonalds Happy Meal but with a grown-up twist. This bad boy comes served with beef dripping fries and a Shakey Pete’s Ginger Brew- a delectable concoction of Beefeater gin, Ginger, and Lemon blended with ice and topped with a dash of Manchester Ale.
And it is coming back for good. Due to its launch back on the menu on Thursday 14th June for £20 a pop, Hawksmoor is giving away as many burgers as you can get your hands on for the original price of £5.09 just for tonight.
The meal will be available at the Hawksmoor Manchester bar only from 5 pm Wednesday 13th June (that’s today)- so get your arses down there and re-live your favourite childhood meal with a sophisticated Hawksmoor twist.
