The River Restaurant has a new à la carte menu with a focus on British classics which have a sense of a time gone by, but with a modern twist which is signature of their head chef Andrew Green. To celebrate they are offering 50% off for a limited period only
Choose from an array of classic starters such as potted shrimp, a mouth-watering crab macaroni or the beef bresaola which is cooked to precision after a one-month preparation process. Or, my absolute kryptonite- the crispy duck spring roll with plum dressing, pickled cucumber and spring onion.
Stand-out main dishes include beef wellington which is brought to the table and showcased by the chef before being sliced and for fish-lovers an exquisite Meuniere-style whole Dover sole on or off the bone.Failing that, you could always go for their expertly grilled chicken or steak which is cooked on their Josper grill or for veggies, the roast spiced cauliflower with beetroot and pearl barley risotto.
Desserts include the likes of lemongrass and lime crème Brulee, steamed treacle sponge or the show-stopping baked Alaska for two- which at 50% you could totally just eat on your own.
