Maguro Nigiri Platter
Umezushi
I’ve said it once, and I will say it again, there is NOTHING quite like the sushi from Umezushi. If you eat anything there, let it be a selection of their Maguro (tuna) Nigiri for a true taste of Japan. When you eat sushi or the real stuff at least, tuna is separated based on its fat content which depends on where on the body of the fish it comes from which is how they do it at Umezushi. From Akami (lean) to Otoro (fatty belly tuna) to Negitoro (minced belly with spring onion) - you will be amazed at the diversity of the textures and flavours. I certainly was anyway, and bog standard tuna will never be the same again. – Kate Tighe
Ridiculous Bin Lid Nachos
Crazy Pedro's
There is nothing in the world better than pizza and quite frankly I will fight anyone who says otherwise. Cover it in 6 meats; pulled pork, pepperoni, salami, ham, beer-soaked frank, smoked bacon and a tonne of sweet scotch bonnet sauce and you might have an out-of-this-world pizza on your hands and it’s called the Kimbo Slice. Sit this on a bin lid of the cheesiest nachos I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating and you’ll be in a pizza-happiness-coma for the rest of the day. Try and tackle this with your mates next time you’re down at Crazy Pedro's, I can guarantee it will not disappoint! - Alex Watson
Rondez-Vous at Charlie’s
Honey Trap Club
HTC’s spin on a Clover Club was my favourite drink of the week. Rondez-Vous at Charlie’s shakes Sipsmiths London Dry with a zesty pomegranate reduction, lemon drizzle, sugar and an egg white foam. Sweet, tart and with a silky smooth texture, this drink is certainly quaffable and will make the perfect start to your weekend every damn time. – India Morris
Miso Ramen
The Refuge
Good news everyone – the People’s Lunch is back at The Refuge. What is this I hear you ask? Well, it is quite simple; each week, Refuge offers three bowls of food (one veggie, one fishy and one meaty) for you to dig into at lunchtimes 12 pm – 3 pm. It really takes the stress out of lunchtime if you ask me. Anyway, this week there was Sausages & Hash and a Sweet Potato Curry and a delicious Miso Ramen which really stole the show for me with a bit of sea bass. The broth was umami, spiced and delicious, with crunchy pak choi and hearty noodles. Basically, it was great and I can’t wait for it to make a comeback. – Rikki Chan
Don PX Dulce de Pasas, 2012
Lunya
I've never really been a big sherry guy but when I was sat in Lunya, glass on my lips and some silky smooth liqueur going down my neck - I certainly thought that perhaps a change of direction was on the cards. They've got an extensive list of sherries at Lunya and I ended up trying a lot fo them at an event this week. My favourite was definitely the Don PX Dulce de Pasas which was super sweet but went perfectly with a final flourish of ice cream for dessert. - Damon Stead
