I had a fair few good times in Pi down in Chorlton back in the day. They always had a great selection of beers and their pies were excellent – from the safe hands down at Pieminister. Alas, it is no more, as after 13 years owner Andy Ingham decided to sell up and it’s now set to become a new café and bar concept – 99 Reasons.

The sale went through last week (via Harvey Silver Hodgkinson), and work has begun in earnest on the venture from new owners Jake McGrath and James Madden, who are hoping to get the site open within the next couple of months.

Jake is an alumni of the excellent Nook – a small café and bar in Heaton Moor – so we’re in safe hands already!

Looking to serve up “amazing coffee, gin, beer and food“, 99 Reasons should be a great addition to the neighbourhood, filling the void left over from the disappearance of Pi, and joining some truly excellent independent venues, from Sushi Marvel, Mary & Archie, The Font and our favourite cocktail bar in Manchester – Henry C.
