It won’t come as a surprise to hear that Chorlton is far from short of excellent boozers, but recently re-opened The Chorlton Green has skyrocketed to the top of my list of favourites.

Located on Beech Road, the very centre of suburban Chorlton life, The Chorlton Green is a relaxed-yet-trendy wine bar which serves up some pretty special glasses and bottles of the good stuff.

Alongside this, there is also beer on draught, an impressive selection of canned craft ale and one of the finest cocktail menus around. When it comes to drinks, you will want for nothing at The Chorlton Green, but the real focus has to be on wine.

The Chorlton Green is home to one of those wine Jukeboxes for you to try a little snifter of various fine wines, while full bottles from every corner of the globe line the walls.

The ambience is nice and chilled too, which creates the perfect environment for supping a few glasses with your nearest and dearest.

What’s more exciting, is that Eat New York have taken over the kitchen down for the foreseeable future. That means that we can enjoy a little slice of that NQ bagel magic down in the suburbs – which should be music to everyone’s ears!

Right now, you can tuck into the classic Eat New York menu down at The Chorlton Green. That means you can enjoy into some of their classic bagels like the epic homemade house Pastrami Bagel with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. The Truffle Burger is a pretty righteous option too.

But it isn’t all about the beef. The Crab Shack Bagel has shuffled its way to top of things that are better than sex, made with crab claw, crispy bacon, avocado, red onion, rocket and chipotle Marie-rose.

Vegans can enjoy the Bagel Ganoush also – which is just as well thought out as the meaty options on the menu if you ask me.

All this is perfectly sided with a couple glasses of fine wine from The Chorlton Green’s arsenal, and before you purists get offended, let me tell you gourmet bagels such as these were born to go with wine – but I only discovered this last week for myself.

Of course, you can tuck into all their original sides (check the classic Eat New York fries) and even their ridiculously naughty desserts (white chocolate cheesecake I’m looking at you).

Honestly, it’s all the good stuff we know and love, but in the south of the city and dangerously close to my house. Guess I can kiss that summer body goodbye and submit to the bagel-bod I was born to have.

Word on the street is that they are going to be launching a slightly more refined evening menu – with a bit of a New York-Italian vibe, so watch this space for more information regarding that over the next few weeks.

Honestly, if you want some casual (but outrageously good) food and a few glasses of wine with friends, look no further than The Chorlton Green.
