If you haven’t been to La Bandera, you haven’t truly lived. This restaurant tucked round a quiet corner just off King Street, is home to come of the best (and surely the most authentic) tapas in town.
Classically Spanish with a Canarian twist, there really isn’t food quite like it in the city. Team Finest is literally in there every week to try something new, and the La Bandera team always manages to keep us on our toes.
Expect all the classic tapas we know and love like patatas bravas, daily changing pintox, chorizo al vino and garlic chilli prawns (gambas al ajillo), alongside some more unique dishes that hail from the Canary Islands, like Carrilleras de bacalao (cod cheeks) and the famous wrinkle potatoes with Mojo sauce.
And it doesn’t stop there.
If you are looking for something a little more substantial (or you just aren’t up for sharing), La Bandera has that too with their stunning offering of main courses.
The Lubina al Gofio cooked in Canarian toasted flour and served with a paste of the flour, fish stock and vinegar is a real highlight for fish lovers while the flat iron steak with mushrooms and truffle (Bistec de Ternera) is a great choice for carnivores.
In short, there is nothing on the menu we don’t like, and we urge you to pop in and give it a try for yourselves. But just in case that isn’t enough of an incentive to get you down there, they will be offering 50% off your food bill this January.
This offer runs Sunday through until Thursday and is available all day. You can only order off the A la Carte menu and unfortunately, there are a few things off limits (Jamon, Pulpo, Puntas and Chateaubriand) but everything else comes in at a sweet half price.
