Everyone is talking about this new Sunday Roast in Ancoats...

...is it the best in the city?!

We all have one of those friends, you know the ones – those people who are SO fussy with their food that they basically end up eating in the same places over and over again – too scared to try anywhere new.

Well, I have a few friends like that. Friends who, as soon as they say they’re in a restaurant, I’ll know which one and what they’re eating to an accuracy of around 92%.

Something happened recently though that surprised me. I was texting said friend (who shall remain nameless) on a Sunday and it went something like this…

Ben Brown: Alright Ste lad – what you up to?
Nameless Friend: Just having a roast dinner – Gabs (his girlfriend) is loving it. Best she’s ever had apparently.

Now this threw me because I knew that ‘Friend’ was not near his usual Roast Dinner spot but instead was in Ancoats. And the best she’s ever had!? Surely not.

Well, this certain Roast Dinner has not just been turning heads in my friendship group – there’s a lot of buzz around it elsewhere – with many people echoing Gabs’ comments.

They were at The Counter House in case you’re wondering – and it must be said – their Roast Dinners are a think of pure beauty. Available from 1pm every Sunday you’ve got the choice of Roast Sirloin of Beef (£14.50), Half a Roast Chicken (£14) or a Nut Roast (£12.50).

Each comes served with some ‘fluffy on the inside – crispy on the outside’ roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips and cabbage – topped with a huge Yorkshire Pudding and some deliciously thick gravy.

Is it the best you’ve ever had? Better than your mums? Better than a Christmas Dinner off your nan? Well, there’s only one way to know for sure – and that’s to get yourself down there and see what all the fuss is about.
