When you think of Easter, the first thing that springs to mind (rightly or wrongly) is a tower of chocolate eggs and a nauseating feeling after eating a good 56 in the space of 2 hours.

A lot of people will be looking forward to indulging this weekend, and whether that’s in chocolate, booze, food or sunshine – the long weekend will be a very warmly welcomed treat, especially after the good news from the Met Office, too!

Down at 53two, they’ve put their own spin on the traditional Easter celebrations. This Friday from 5.30pm, the venue will be offering the first 50 people through the door a free pie and pint combo courtesy of the wonderful teams at Brightside Beer and H.M Pasties.

Brightside Brewing began their journey back in 2009, working their way up to become part of Manchester’s burgeoning brewery scene with a reputation for quality, consistency and service.

You’ll find their beer in pubs and restaurants across the city, as well as out towards Crewe and Chester, the Wirral, and up to Preston in the North. They’ve got everything from lagers, radlers, IPAs and delicious wheat beers – that apparently taste even better when they’re free!

H.M Pasties are another incredible Manchester-based business that not only serves up delicious pies, but also employs people with criminal convictions to reduce the chance of them re-offending.

All of their pies and pasties are handcrafted in their own shortcrust pastry and filled with fresh ingredients sourced from local prison farms and gardens. Earlier this year the bakery also won silver for their Cheese & Onion Pie and bronze for their Traditional West Country Style Pasty and Creamy Leek & Mushroom Pie at the British Pie Awards 2022.

So why not break tradition and start your weekend with a pie and a pint, two things that were quite frankly made for each other!

You’ll find 53two perched in the arches behind Manchester Central. The business has grown from acting school, Manchester Actors’ Platform, MAP, which was established to provide affordable, professional services for actors.

Now, 53two hosts new theatre productions, events and private parties and is fully accessible for all, with a lowered bar, disabled toilet, modular, removable table system and more. This means that the space isn’t adapted for people with a disability, it’s just the norm that every part of it is accessible for all.

The free pie and pint offer will start from 5.30pm!
