Hatch, the food court underneath the rumbling of the Mancunian Way on Oxford Road, is going to start opening for breakfast.

From this weekend, it will be opening up on Saturday and Sunday at the earlier time of 10am, with its food and drinks vendors easing us into the day.

There will be a host of breakfast dining options on offer, as well as a handy line in breakfast cocktails and hangover remedies too.

Block Steak Shop will be going straight for the jugular, offering steak and eggs, with sourdough toast, avocado and chimichurri, plus some veggie and vegan breakfast options.

East African kitchen House of Habesha will also be pivoting to breakfast, with a twist on a full English – featuring scrambled eggs, lamb sausage, fava beans, fried tomatoes, hash brown and brioche toast.

They’ll also be serving up ‘fata’ – shredded pitta stewed with berber spices, which is often served at breakfast in Eritrea – an egg frittata; scrambled eggs served with tomato, parsley, garlic and pitta bread, and a classic Turkish poached eggs dish with yoghurt.

For the plant-loving, Herbivourous will be introducing vegan sausage sandwiches and breakfast wraps as well as their own ‘Big Brunch Burger’ and a tofu scramble bagel.

Meanwhile, there will be a breakfast burrito from Rio Mex, brunch bowls from the Aussie-inspired Bondi Bowls, fresh breakfast focaccias from T’arricrii and from the legendary Parmogeddon, chicken tenders with crispy bacon and French toast with hot honey.

A new range of breakfast cocktails will be available from the Hatch bar, as well as the usual tea, coffee and pastries from ASAP Coffee.

The first early opening session happens this Saturday (August 19).
