Edinburgh Castle in Ancoats was barely open 6 months when they were forced to close their doors once again due to the lockdown imposed by the government due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was a very successful 6 months though, a time which saw them launch their outstanding restaurant upstairs – complete with a masterful modern British menu from Julian Pizer – one which we wondered could bag them a Michelin star.

We marvelled at their Bees Waxed Aged Beef, revelled in their showcase of wonderful sides and regularly enjoyed their truly sublime Roast Dinner each week – with their Rosemary Roasted Lamb truly blowing our socks off.

The pub downstairs also managed to cement itself as one of the best places for a pint in Ancoats, as well as offering up a great Lunch Deal which fixed many a hangover here in the Finest office.

This Saturday 4th July sees them reopen their doors once again and they’ll be taking bookings for tables of up to 6 people. They’ve got a brand new menu and their Roast Dinners will be back once they’ve got themselves back up on their feet.
