One week before the prestigious ‘World’s Best 50 Bars 2022’ list is dropped, the extended 51 – 100 list has been revealed and Sunlight House’s Schofield’s Bar has come in at number 59.
The annual list is decided each year by a prestigious panel of over 650 independent, knowledgeable drinkers, including expert bartenders, drinks writers, cocktails specialists and educators.
Alongside Manchester’s Schofield’s, making up the 51-100 list are brand new cities including; Kraków, Bratislava, Playa Del Carmen and Bogotá, all housing bars and lavish drinking institutions.
This is yet another win for the cocktail bar from Bury-born brothers Dan and Joe Schofield who have continually wowed the city’s cocktail connoisseurs with their intricate mixes and menu of both classics and rivetingly fresh drinks.
Taking to Instagram, the brothers said: “We are a little lost for words upon hearing the news that we ranked as the 59th Best Bar in the World (The World’s 50 Best Bars List 2022) making us the only bar in England to place in the list outside of London since 2008.
“We’ve said it before and we’ll say it many more times but this is a true testament to the hard work put in by the team on a daily basis. We are proud to call you colleagues and proud to work alongside you.
“After opening during the global pandemic, we never imagined we would receive this sort of recognition and it drives us to be better and do better for you, our guest. We are proud to play a small part in the thriving food and drink community in Manchester.”
Schofield’s Bar has been a massive hit amongst both the public and, so it seems, the industry since opening up just off Quay Street in 2020. Considered to be the best cocktail bar in the city, the venue has really set the bar high for the rest of Manchester to follow.
The brothers behind the concept have also recently opened brand new bar Sterling in the old underground vault of the Stock Exchange Hotel serving up a range of carefully crafted cocktails, bar snacks, as well as the bar’s very own brand of Sterling champagne.
