Manchester Airport has revealed the name and first look at its long-awaited JD Wetherspoon pub, which will open in Terminal 2 this September.
The airport’s first-ever ‘Spoons will be called The Belle Vue, a tribute to one of Manchester’s most famous entertainment destinations. For well over a century, Belle Vue was at the heart of the city’s social life, hosting everything from zoological gardens and funfairs to greyhound racing, speedway and its own pub before the final event took place at Belle Vue Stadium in 2020.
Now, the name is set for a new chapter, this time in the departures lounge.

Spanning 338 sq m and seating more than 300 people, The Belle Vue has been designed to reflect both the history of its namesake and the North West’s enduring love affair with sport. Newly released images show a clubhouse-inspired interior blending classic pub touches with contemporary design, alongside sporting memorabilia dotted throughout the space.
For many travellers, a pre-flight pint is as much a part of the holiday ritual as checking in, and The Belle Vue looks set to become one of Terminal 2’s busiest gathering spots when it opens later this year.
The venue will also mark the final major food and drink opening in Manchester Airport’s £1.3bn transformation of Terminal 2. The decade-long redevelopment has more than doubled the size of the terminal and introduced a host of new shops, restaurants and bars.
Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, said: “We’re very excited to be able to reveal more detail about Terminal 2’s new JD Wetherspoon pub The Belle Vue, which will encapsulate the spirit and traditions of sporting entertainment in Manchester. This will be the first JD Wetherspoon pub at Manchester Airport and it is fantastic to have yet another household name taking its place among those opening units in the terminal, as part of its £1.3bn transformation.”

Richard Jackson, Retail Director at the airport, added: “From the outset of the transformation programme, we were keen to ensure we had a varied food and drink offering in the terminal with a strong sense of place and the Belle Vue will complement the existing bars and pubs in Terminal 2, expanding the choice on offer to passengers, with something to suit all tastes and budgets.
“Our new Boutique Mall in Terminal 2, featuring a number of fashion’s big names, will open this summer too – so it is shaping up to be an exciting few months.”
JD Wetherspoon Chief Executive John Hutson said: “We are looking forward to opening at Manchester Airport.
“We believe our new pub will prove popular with travellers of all ages and be an asset to the new terminal.”
The Belle Vue joins a growing line-up of food, drink and retail brands in the expanded terminal, as Manchester Airport puts the finishing touches to one of the biggest airport redevelopment projects in the UK.
