Just four months after announcing plans to close, the Urmston restaurant is relaunching with a new sharing plates concept...
Back in February, it looked like the end for Örme.
The Michelin Guide-listed neighbourhood restaurant in Urmston announced plans to sell the business and close its doors, citing the ‘significant economic pressures’ facing the hospitality industry and describing long-term sustainability as ‘unfeasible’.
Now, in a surprise turnaround, owners have confirmed it will remain open and relaunch on 1 July with a completely new concept centred around sharing plates, social dining and a more relaxed approach to eating out.

The restaurant, which opened in 2023 and quickly earned recognition from both the Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide, is moving away from its tasting menu format in favour of a regularly changing menu of snacks, small plates and desserts designed to be shared around the table.
Dishes set to feature on the opening menu include salt’n’vinegar scampi with curry mayo, smoked Lancashire cheese custard on fried bread with red onion jam, cured Cornish mackerel with roasted onion dressing and English peas, and spring lamb served with sweet and sour mint and BBQ cavolo nero.
Desserts will include an upside-down treacle tart with raspberries, lemon thyme and ginger, alongside a strawberry, balsamic and lime sundae.

A new feasting menu will also offer a chef’s selection of dishes from the daily menu, providing an option for diners who previously enjoyed Örme’s tasting menu experience.
Rachel Roberts, Operations and Wine Director at Örme, said: “We are excited to be taking Örme in a new direction, deepening our roots in the local community.
“We’ve always seen this as an extension of our home, and we want guests to feel like they are invited in for tea. With our extended opening hours, we will be welcoming walk-ins and drinkers.”

Chef Director Jack Fields added: “Our new menu allows us to collaborate closely with our suppliers and access highly seasonal produce with the freedom to change the dishes on a more frequent basis.
“It’s a more paired back and comforting approach, but still highlights British ingredients using the classic techniques that Örme is built on.
“The relaunch will also introduce refreshed interiors, a renewed drinks offering and a continued emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients.”
The relaunch also marks a change behind the scenes. Co-founder Tom Wilson will step away from the business at the end of June after helping establish the restaurant over the last three years. Going forward, Örme will continue under the ownership and direction of Fields and Roberts.
For a restaurant that appeared destined to become another casualty of the industry’s ongoing challenges earlier this year, the relaunch represents an unexpected second chapter — and good news for Urmston diners who thought they were saying goodbye for good.
