Nell’s, known for its signature 22-inch New York style pizza, is set to debut its new ‘Slices & Ices’ concept at Freight Island.
The new concept – honing in on both their giant slices and ice cream sandwiches – will kick off on 14 August.
With outlets in the Northern Quarter, Chorlton, Kampus and Altrincham, Nell’s has built a devoted following across the city – with a new site also planned for MediaCity later this year.
It’s been named Affordable Eats Venue of the Year, as well as getting recognition in The Sunday Times lists of best places to work in both 2024 and 2025.
To mark its arrival at Freight Island, they will give away 222 free pizza slices from 4 pm on launch day — first come, first served.

The menu will offer their full 22″ pizzas alongside individual slices, including exclusive-to-this-location options in slice form such as the Burra‑ta‑ta‑ta, ta‑ta‑ta‑ta‑ta‑ta and their Corn Supremacy.
Freight Island diners will also find their twist on the classic marinara — Marinara Plus, made with a Yellow Datterini tomato base — alongside fan favourites like Do You ‘Roni Honey?, Double Down Pepperoni and OG Cheese.
Ice‑cream sandwich flavours will include Salted Caramel, Neapolitan, Cherry Pie, Red Velvet, Everyday Birthday Cake, Pistachio (White Chocolate), and Cookie Dough & Marshmallow.
“We’re buzzing to bring our new Nell’s Slices & Ices concept to Freight Island,” said co‑founder Jonny Heyes. “The energy and community spirit at Freight Island perfectly matches what we’re all about – great food, great vibes, and bringing people together over proper good pizza.”
Nell’s will be joining other resident vendors at Freight include Ornella’s Little Kitchen, Morejoy, Gooey and Burgerism.
