Vegan street food specialist, Herbivorous has opened its first restaurant in Withington today – a vibrant and colourful new festival-inspired venue that will be open seven days a week, serving dinner from 5pm on Monday to Thursday, and opening for lunch and dinner from Friday – Sunday.
The new restaurant is the first ever bricks and mortar venue for Herbivorous, who are known for their vibrant, unique and non-traditional take on vegan food.
Owners Robyn and Damian started out with the goal of bringing exciting vegan food to the mainstream and are now leading the way in a Manchester vegan food revolution.
They started off touring the UK visiting some of the nation’s biggest festivals in their bright green vintage Horsebox, before heading over to Hatch on Oxford Road, where they’ll still be trading.
Robyn and Damian create almost all of their dishes and products in- house – making their seitan and sauces from scratch and serving up their most ambitious and creative menu yet – the result of over five years of menu development by the pair.
Guests can expect an amazing range of plant based burgers, flatbreads and sandwiches – from the new Tandoori “Lamb” Koftas to their classic Big Kahuna Burger and Fried “Chicken”. There’s a whole section dedicated to awesome loaded fries topped with dreamy toppings like Thai Basil Beef, and decadent Philly Cheese Steak.
Grazing and sharing is encouraged – so the sides and sharers range is diverse and well-considered, including Buffalo Wings, Loaded Onion Bhaji Rings and Sweet and Sour “Chicken” Balls.
Desserts are absolutely not to be missed with sticky toffee pudding and creamy cheesecake bringing the perfect portfolio of treats to welcome in the colder months ahead. All delicious, all completely vegan.
A curated collection of plant-based cocktails includes Rum Punch and Lemon Bonbon whilst beers and ciders are all sourced locally from the likes of Burton Road Brewery, Pomona Island and Bolton’s Red Bank Cider.
With a colourful interior featuring an eclectic blend of styles and materials, as well as bespoke artwork, guests can expect a warm welcome in Withington! For those who enjoy the comfort of their own home, Herbivorous will be launching their home deliveries early next month.
