New restaurants and bars opening in Manchester this December

Including a rooftop wine bar, a new city-centre venue for Salt & Pepper and a Parisian deli on King Street.

Açai and The Tribe

Manchester’s dining and leisure destination, Great Northern Warehouse has welcomed its latest arrival on Deansgate Mews, brunch café, Açai & The Tribe. Relocating from its original pop-up shop location inside the Arndale Market, the popular açai and breakfast spot is relaunching with a new ‘build your own bowl’ menu. Established in 2021, Manchester’s first-of-a-kind açai hotspot brings the exotic berry to Deansgate with filled breakfast bowls and nutritious treats that are primarily vegan and gluten-free friendly. 

House of Habesha at Ancoats General Store

House of Habesha has landed in Ancoats again with its menu of authentic Eritrean and Ethiopian soul food. Customers can expect hearty, healthy, tasty food made using traditional methods with key dishes such as the House of Habesha curry platters, which comes with traditional breads and sauces. The pop-up serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Salt & Pepper

Everyone’s favourite lunch time stop off has returned once again, but this time with a sit-in restaurant opposite its OG spot inside the Arndale market. After a 3-month hiatus for the team behind Salt & Pepper, the menu features some new additions including a decades-old family recipe of hot curry sauce, perfect for drenching your crispy salt and pepper chicken. 

Third Floor Rising

Third Floor Rising, a brand-new brunch spot has opened on the third floor of Afflecks, offering an all-day menu of British classics, from breakfast through to closing time. The cafe will be serving breakfast from 10.30am, as well as lunch and drinks all day long, designed to refuel hungry shoppers, visitors and traders alike. Serving cafe classics, Third Floor Rising will dish up quality breakfasts with specialities including meat, vegetarian and vegan fry-ups, as well as traditional breakfast rolls, BLT, teas, coffees and everything required to kick start the day. There’s also a solid list of owner Tommy’s homemade pies, paninis, toasties and filled rolls as well as co-owner Sarah’s home made tray bakes and cakes.

Climat

Monday 5th December
The ‘second album’ from Chester favourites Covino, Climat is FINALLY opening its doors this month. Located on the rooftop of Blackfriars House, the bar will offer an opulent drinking and dining experience that’s led by seasonally-inspired menus and an incredible menu of fantastic wines from around the world. With views cascading down the River Irwell, the new restaurant is headed up by Executive Chef Luke Richardson who best defines his style of cooking as ‘Parisian expat food’ – a nod towards the time he spent in the cosmopolitan kitchens of the French capital.

Super Happy Burgers

The next venture on a long list for Manchester’s Batard, the team have now added a burger menu to their ‘Super Happy’ pop-up inside Ducie Street Warehouse. Making all of the bread fresh on-site, the menu includes burgers with four smashed patties, Louisiana-style fried chicken Szechuan fried chicken and all of the pickles you could ever wish for. All food is available to order on Deliveroo from tomorrow, too.

BQ Bitesize

Friday 9th December
Coming soon to Manchester Craft and Design centre is the latest in a long list of venture’s for Tib Street’s Butchers Quarter. The team has announced the opening of an artisan cafe inside the Victorian art deco Craft and Design Centre, that will serve up a range of breakfast, sandwiches, charcuterie and specially selected wines. Due to open in early December, it’ll serve as an ideal spot to relax whilst browsing alternative gifting from the independent traders inside.

Las Bombas

Las Bombas is taking over the former space of Irlam’s Juniper’s Gin Bar, which shut its doors back in 2020, with a vision to turn it into a homage to Latin America. Chef James Saadat will be serving up a menu of South American tapas, including freshly baked Empanadas and Ceviche. Diners will also be able to enjoy Baja Fish and Steak Tacos with Chimichurri, and a huge Carne sharing board as part of their Saturday bottomless brunch offer.

Petit Paris Deli

Petit Paris Deli, a Parisian influenced eatery serving up a range of wines, cheeses and small plates is opening in the former L’Occitane unit on King Street this month. One of the city centre’s very first French delis, it will encompass everything well-known and most-loved about French dining, alongside a curated menu of wines from the region. 

The Jane Eyre Chorlton

Ancoats’ popular cocktail bar and neighbourhood eatery, The Jane Eyre announced plans to open a brand-new space as part of Chorlton’s burgeoning Beech Road, and it should be finished this month! Famous for its curated cocktail menu and top-tier Sunday roasts, the bar and restaurant will also bring a small plates menu, alongside breakfast and brunch dishes. There’ll be a big focus on seasonal ingredients with the restaurant’s Ancoats head chef, Jack Mullen leading the project.
