Just in case you didn’t know, last September saw planning permission granted for Manchester’s brand-new 23,500-capacity arena, set to be the UK’s largest.
Located down at the Ethiad Campus, it’s hoped that the venue will be ready to open in 2023, and will be known a ‘Co-op Live’ – a next generation arena that is purpose built for live music – meaning that they can deliver “world-leading fan experiences before, during and after events”.
It was also announced that artist Harry Styles has made an investment in Co-op Live in his hometown. Styles will be actively involved, advising on delivering the world’s best fan experience, premium and hospitality areas, and artist spaces.
As well as the large area bowl, Co-op Live will also offer a range of intimate spaces such as the Atrium, The Record Room, Co-op Backstage Bar, the Hangouts, Night Market, and others.
Co-op Live have, this week, teamed up with sports and entertainment consulting firm Elevate Sports Ventures, who will support on strategy, marketing, sales and service for the venue’s premium hospitality offerings. There’s set to be 27 suites, nine lounges and club spaces, comprising 2,500 premium seats and VIP experiential spaces in the venue.
To drive interest in these premium opportunities, Elevate will help open the Co-op Live Sales Suite in the Northern Quarter, a custom-designed studio showcasing the premium amenities on offer. This sales suite HQ is set to open up in April 2021.
By the looks of things, the new Northern Quarter HQ will compromise suites, a ‘hangout’ space and the Co-op Backstage Bar. But the rest of the details are a little bit thin. Where will it be? What exactly will be going on there? Will we have as much fun in there as the people in the CGI mock-ups are?
As a matter of principle I’ll keep at it and investigate further for you. By the looks of it, at the very least this will be a brand-new bar for the Northern Quarter, likely with a packed live music and performance calendar – linking in with the whole upcoming arena vibes.
Keep an eye and ear close to the ground – I’ll keep you updated with further developments as they unfold.
