OSMA set to return with new restaurant and grocery in the city centre

From Prestwich to the city centre, it's a new chapter for Dani Heron and Sofie Stoermann-Naess...

OSMA is set to return to Manchester this autumn, with founders Danielle Heron and Sofie Stoermann-Naess bringing the restaurant back in a new city centre location alongside an ambitious new grocery concept.

The restaurant will reopen at One Port Street in the Northern Quarter, almost two years after closing its original Prestwich site. The move marks a new chapter for the pair, who will also launch Boutikk, a neighbouring provisions store inspired by Scandinavian food culture and traditional Oslo grocery shopping.

Originally opened in 2020, OSMA quickly established itself as one of Greater Manchester’s most acclaimed neighbourhood restaurants. Named after a combination of Oslo and Manchester, the restaurant blended Stoermann-Naess’ Norwegian heritage with Heron’s classical culinary training, earning a place in the Michelin Guide within a year of opening.

The return will see Heron resume her role as Executive Chef, with a menu centred around seasonal produce, fresh seafood, local meats and vegetable-led dishes. A number of OSMA’s most popular plates are expected to make a comeback, alongside the restaurant’s well-known sharing Sunday roast.

While the restaurant occupies one side of the development, Boutikk will introduce a new offering to the city centre. The grocery and provisions shop will stock seasonal fruit and vegetables, dairy products, fresh meat and fish, with chefs available to advise customers on ingredients, recipes and cooking techniques. Scandinavian-style breads will also be baked fresh on site.

The concept takes inspiration from the food markets and neighbourhood grocery stores of Oslo, bringing a style of produce-led shopping that is currently uncommon in Manchester city centre.

The reopening also marks the return of one of Manchester’s most recognisable chef-restaurateur partnerships. Since OSMA first launched, Heron has appeared on both MasterChef: The Professionals and Great British Menu, reaching the finals of both competitions.

Speaking about the move, Danielle and Sofie said: “We’re so delighted to be reopening OSMA, we’ve missed it every day and to be bringing the restaurant back into such a vibrant part of the city centre is beyond exciting.

“We will miss our community in Prestwich but we’re only a couple of miles down the road! Bringing a shop like Boutikk to Manchester has been a dream for such a long time – we feel that there is a need and a want for this kind of produce in the city centre so when it became apparent that we could create something alongside OSMA we jumped at the chance!”

Adam Price of developer Select Property added: “Osma has made a remarkable impact on Greater Manchester’s dining scene in a short space of time, and we’re proud to be partnering with them on this exciting new chapter.

“Their new home at One Port St is a natural fit – we share a commitment to community, quality and creativity, and this collaboration reflects our ambition to bring something truly fresh and inspiring to the Northern Quarter.”

OSMA and Boutikk are scheduled to open at One Port Street in autumn 2026, joining new pizza project Proloco, from Honest Crust’s Rich Carver and Rainy Heart co-founder Dan Hope.
