Caravan, the all-day dining spot, cocktail bar and coffee roastery that’s proved a smash hit in London, will open in Manchester on 20 August.
It’ll be throwing open its doors in the St John’s area of the city centre, at the end of Quay Street, around the site of the former Granada Studios.
Set up by three friends from New Zealand, they opened their first space on London’s Exmouth Market in 2010. Since then, it’s expanded to seven other locations across the city, with the Manchester branch being the first outside the capital.
The Manchester site will boast 170 covers, private dining rooms and its own on-site coffee roastery.
Meanwhile, the daytime menu will feature dishes like Korean style buttermilk fried chicken with kimchi pancakes and gochujang ketchup, and jalapeño cornbread with fried egg, spinach, curd cheese, mojo verde and chilli butter.
There are also vibrant salad bowls, larger plates like a chargrilled Barnsley chop and a pork schnitzel, topped with a fried egg.
Caravan will be giving their kitchens a test run from 15 to 17 August and will be giving diners 50% off the food bill in exchange for feedback.
You can sign up here for bookings, and to find out about the 50% off reservation slots.
Laura Harper-Hinton, co-founder and CEO of Caravan said of the opening: “We are so excited to be taking Caravan on the road to Manchester, but more importantly, we are really looking forward to spending more time in this incredible city.
“We’ve had nothing but great vibes and support from everyone we’ve come across so far. We’ve chosen a unique location which sits right next to the new Aviva Studios, behind the historic Granada Studios and right in the heart of a growing new district at St John’s. We hope to attract a real cross section of the city to our beautiful new restaurant and roastery.
“In our London spaces we see everyone from early morning gym goers and
commuters grabbing coffee, business lunches, baby dates and cocktail heavy birthday parties in the evening!’ We’ll be open morning, noon and night and you’re all welcome anytime that suits you!”
