There’s not a week that goes by now without us reporting on another foodie institution planning on branching out to the gastronomically great district of Sale.

The latest restaurant to announce big plans for the area is Chorlton’s Oystercatcher, a glorious restaurant currently based on Manchester Road, that’s dedicated to fresh, seasonal fish dishes cooked over coals.

The intimate neighbourhood eatery began its journey back in 2018, creating a laid-back dining experience that caters for every day lunch dates all the way through to special celebrations and occasions.

The restaurant’s mission is to share the healthy delights of the sea with guests and introduce people to fish dishes they may have never tried before.

With a big focus on Oysters, as well as coal-based cooking, the restaurant has soon catapulted to one of the best seafood institutions currently available in Manchester. Its menus regularly change and adapt to keep up with seasonality and sustainability, but there’s always something for vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters, too.

The varied menus put together by Oystercatcher’s wonderful chefs include traditional British dishes such as the sentimental fish and chips, alongside chargrilled whole catches and plates that have been influenced by various other fish-loving nations.

An example of this is the ever popular Crab Arancini starter, which has been influenced by the Southern coastline of Italy. Other dishes that Oystercatcher will no doubt be bringing to Sale are the chargrilled Black Sea Bream and Seabass, its Swordfish Kebab and the Panang Curry, which is served with a seabream fillet, hispi cabbage, jerusalem artichoke and fluffy basmati rice.

The restaurant also serves a great selection of local, independent beers, wines, and even a cocktail or two if you’re booked in to celebrate a special occasion!

Oystercatcher is yet to confirm the opening date of its Stanley Square restaurant, but we can be safe in the knowledge that it’s heading to a triumphant neighbourhood full of some of the North’s very best independent restaurants.

Sale has recently welcoming the likes of Greens, Ashby’s Greengrocers, Sugo Pasta Kitchen and Rudy’s who have all brought their very own unique recipes and exquisite dining experiences to the South Manchester suburb.
