Damson was established in 2009 by Steve Pilling and Simon Stanley. Known as the ultimate neighbourhood restaurant, the team have been bringing beautiful food to the suburbs for the last 3 years, and have picked up a cluster of awards and plaudits in the process. Together Steve and Simon have received more awards collectively from the Manchester Food and Drink Festival than anyone else in its history.

The 140 cover MediaCityUK restaurant has everything you would expect from the duo – local and seasonal ingredients, top regional suppliers, understatedly elegant surroundings and creative simplicity on the plate. However, the new location sees Damson embrace a wonderfully contemporary new home with state of the art features including private dining area, breakfast meeting options, chefs table, standalone bar and fabulous views across the piazza from the floor to ceiling windows – perfect for watching the media world go by!

The restaurant is easily reachable from Manchester city centre with a direct Metrolink tram stopping outside and taking just 15 minutes.

The occasion was marked last night with a launch party fit for its surroundings, as the BBC, ITV and many of the businesses from MediaCityUK’s creative hub, turned out in force to celebrate this fantastic new addition to their neighbourhood. Guests, including Director of BBC North, Peter Salmon, enjoyed samples of the Damson menu (of which some highlights below), drinks reception, and a sneak peak of the venue before it opens to the public on 1st February.

The restaurant is also working in partnership with Salford City College via an apprenticeship scheme within their hospitality course, as part of the College’s £7m Futureskills investment in the area.
