Aumbry to create four course meal based on Sybille Bedford’s ‘A Legacy’ as part of Prestwich Book Festival.

Manchester’s award-winning restaurant Aumbry has confirmed it is participating in Prestwich’s second Book Festival with an Eat a Book event, creating a sumptuous four course meal based on Sybille Bedford’s first novel ‘A Legacy’.

Taking place on Wednesday, June 5th, actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, who plays Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street, will read passages from the book that looks at the vastly different worlds of two families in a newly unified Germany in the decades before the First World War.

Tickets for this much-anticipated event are £50 per person.

The menu for the evening is as follows:

Pastoral life at Felden
Amuse Bouche of Smoked Boar with Sweet clouded wine

50th birthday party
Crayfish, asparagus and soft boiled gull’s egg
(plovers now endangered/protected!)

South of France
Sea bass baked in salt crust with fennel and rosemary bread, butter, salt, pepper and olive oil

Dessert
Sacher torte

Petit fours
Turkish delight
