If, like me, you’ve not had a holiday since before the first lockdown in March, you’re probably starting to feel some serious cabin fever. I just want to get away, get some sun, drink sangria and eat tapas until I can no longer move.
It seems appropriate to say – La Bandera to the rescue now as they’ve re-introduced their wildly popular ‘Journey Through Spain‘ series of Taster Menus – but at home!
That means that each week you can sample a unique 5-course taster menu from different regions of Spain, all to be enjoyed within the comfort of your own home.
Galician Octopus
Starting this week (13th, 14th and 15th November), your Journey Through Spain begins in the ‘WILD NORTH‘ with dishes specially inspired by the rolling hills, green pastures and wild seas of the north, including influences from the Basque region and the forests and mountains of the Pyrenees.
The ‘Wild North’ menu includes Galician Octopus served on a bed of roast potatoes, Homemade White Bean Stew with chorizo and Spanish black pudding, Seabass with Garlic, Chilli and Spanish Paprika, Slow-cooked Oxtail and finished with a traditional homemade Almond Cake.

The 5-course tasting menu for two costs just £50 and comes with a bottle of wine to share. You can alternatively order the experience with a wine flight – offering you paired wines with every course for just £80. A full 5-course restaurant taster menu experience, with wine flight for just £40 each?! That’s impressive.
Following on from the ‘Wild North’ this weekend, each subsequent week will feature a new region of Spain to explore, from the Canary Islands (20th, 21st, 22nd) to the Mediterranean Sea (27th, 28th, 29th).

The journey will come to an end on the weekend of the 4th December with a ‘La Bandera Special‘ a selection of the restaurant’s very best and most popular dishes – all expertly paired with wines and prepared for you at home.
