The Big Student C(h)ook Off will offer every student from each university and college in the Manchester area the chance to stock up on some hearty food, without making a single dent on that sacred student loan.

The Edge Street restaurant opened its chicken coop in July 2015, meaning that many of the returning students are yet to experience the true calling of a proper buttermilk fried chicken meal. To educate all fellow chicken lovers out there, Yard and Coop has announced that it will be offering student’s 10% discount off its entire menu, with the Big Student C(h)ook Off marking the launch of this on-going offer.

Carl Morris, co-owner of Yard and Coop, comments: “Come October all the students have descended on Manchester once again, some of them might even be already waving goodbye to their last few pennies of the student overdraft.

“The team at Yard and Coop is here to help, so not only will we be offering all students 10% off absolutely everything on the menu, every single day, but to kick it the new academic year off, we will be plying students all day with the best buttermilk fried chicken in city – all for free.

“Everyone knows we love a bit of the bird at Yard and Coop and we want to share this love with the fellow students of Manchester. But these guys get to enjoy it all for free – it doesn’t get much better than that.”

On the day, Yard and Coop will also be providing one clucky student the chance to win a year’s supply of free chicken and chips. The chosen chicken lover will be picked at random from the Yard and Coop database at anytime during the event, where they will be presented with The Golden Egg Ticket of twelve meals for the next twelve months.*

Carl adds: “We are looking forward to seeing everyone tucking into their favourite bit of bird on October 14, just don’t forget your student ID – no ID no fried goodness, it’s that simple. The Big Student C(h)ook Off, it’s free chicken with no wings attached – pun always intended.”

The Big Student C(h)ook Off starts at 12pm till 12am on Wednesday 14 October. Students will be given a free plate of buttermilk fried chicken and chips, on presentation of their student ID card.
