Sacha Lord has announced a plan to treat those struggling this Christmas, in a team-up with acclaimed Manchester chef Simon Wood.
In a video posted on his socials, Manchester’s Night Time Economy Advisor and co-founder of The Warehouse Project and Parklife has revealed his idea to bring Christmas cheer to those who may not be in the best place to feel it.
Lord has announced that 70 people will be invited to enjoy a ‘luxurious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings’ at Simon’s flagship, fine dining restaurant WOOD on Sunday 3 December. He added that he is looking for people to nominate attendees for the special event, which will also include entertainment in the form of magicians and singers.
There will also be the chance for a person or organisation to enjoy the exclusive chef’s table experience, an opportunity to watch the team in the kitchen prepare the special lunch.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Lord said: “Everybody knows people who are really, really struggling in the come up to Christmas. This is your opportunity to reach out and put their names forward. It can be one person, it can be a couple, or a family. My DMs are open and let me know who you think needs this special Christmas love.”
He added: “So it’s now down to you, please send me names, send me organisations, send me family names. Recommend people. And let’s bring a bit of Christmas happiness into somebody’s life.
“We know this isn’t going to be the solution, we know this is not going to fix everybody’s problems. But we just hope that for a few hours on the Sunday, 3 December, it can take your mind off the issues.”
The news follows Lord’s pledge to promote 10 of Manchester’s independent hospitality businesses on one of the biggest advertising screens in the city this festive season.
The special Christmas dinner organised by Sacha Lord and Simon Wood will take place on Sunday 3 December at WOOD on First Street in Manchester and you can find out more information, and nominate someone, here.
