Visitors to the Black Friar during its birthday month will be treated to a free instant win scratch card with their bill. The prizes up for grabs include free meals on the spot, free cocktails, and vouchers offering between £10-£200 off the winners’ next visit. With the total prize value exceeding a staggering £72,000, every guest is guaranteed to win one of the prizes on offer.
Alongside the giveaways, The Black Friar will also roll out a special birthday menu crafted by award-winning Chef Ben Chaplin and his team. The two-course menu, themed around the number two and priced at £22, includes a selection of Summer à la carte dishes and pub favourites. Customers can also opt to add a third course for an additional £7.

Owner and Operator of The Black Friar, Neil Burke, expressed his excitement for the upcoming celebrations, remarking, “We can’t wait to see all of our friends, neighbours and loyal guests this August – come to visit us and you’re guaranteed a prize!”
Dating back over 200 years, the Black Friar pub has a rich history. Originally named the School Inn, it was rebuilt and renamed after a fire in 1886. The pub, which suffered another fire in 2001, was refurbished and rechristened as the Black Friar, now boasting a grand glass room, a cosy pub, an award-winning beer garden, and an outdoor tavern.
The Black Friar is conveniently situated on Blackfriars Road, just a short 10-minute walk from Deansgate. To participate in the birthday celebrations, visitors can book a table via The Black Friar’s website. The pub will also feature live local music every Tuesday evening throughout the summer, in addition to their regular Happy Hour on weekdays from 4pm – 6.30pm.
