Bringing food that is close to the heart, these two street-food traders are joining forces to bring you recipes from their hometowns.
Despite specialising in Korean food, Yen (Woks Cluckin) wants to share Malaysian ‘Nyonya’ food during this event, which compliments Mama Z’s Filipino food perfectly.
Growing up in Malaysia Yen was lucky enough to be nurtured with some of the finest Nyonya Cuisine in the comfort of her family dining table, all lovingly cooked by her Ah Por (Grandma).
Likewise, Zosima (Mama Z) was also brought up on her mother’s Filipino cooking, all passed down from her Lola (Grandma) too and spent many summers in the company of her Filipino family in Bataan.
This marriage of flavours between Filipino and Nyonya cuisine is brought to you together in these series of special supper clubs, showcasing the best of Nyonya and Filipino cuisine through shared memories, recipes and stories from both family kitchens.
You will begin the mean with Nugget Babi which is marinated pork belly (or tofu) in Yen’s special red bean paste, deep fried till crispy served with a delicious mango and pomelo salad, dressed in a Bagoong (dried shrimp) dressing.
Next will be a huge feast which is designed to be shared and (preferably) eaten with your hands. It will include BBQ chicken (or jackfruit), sawsawan dips, Peranakan vegetable curry, keropok Prawn/Veggie Crackers, Assam Tamarind Prawns and Bunga Telang Blue Pea Rice.
Finally, tuck into an individual Pandan kaya and mango float dessert which is going to knock your socks off.
The next event lands on Thursday 14th March at Hatch and begins at 7:30 pm. There are a limited number of tickets still available which you can buy using the link below.
