Whatever you're up to, we've rounded up budget-friendly places to refuel...
It’s summer, which means endless day trips, excursions and activities. It also means you’ll be wanting to keep lots of hungry bellies satisfied. The good news is plenty of restaurants across Manchester are running ‘kids eat free’ offers throughout the holidays, from family-friendly pubs to fried chicken spots, curry houses and pizzerias.
Here’s where to take the kids to eat for free over the summer holidays…
Zizzi
Zizzi is offering free three-course meals for children throughout the summer holidays when an adult main is purchased, with the deal available through its free Zillionaires loyalty app. Kids can choose from pizza or pasta, snack-style starters and desserts including gelato, ice lollies and a new candy floss sundae topped with freshly spun candy floss.
Sexy Fish
Sexy Fish is bringing back its Kids Eat Free offer for the school holidays, with children aged 11 and under dining free with each paying adult. The Little Fish menu includes salt and pepper squid, salmon and avocado maki, chicken yakitori and grilled salmon, plus ice creams and sorbets to finish. It’s available on weekdays between 12pm and 6pm, making it a handy option for a slightly fancier family lunch.
The Black Friar
The Black Friar is offering free children’s meals throughout the summer school holidays, with kids able to choose from dishes including a hotdog and fries, cheese and tomato pizza, or a chicken or halloumi wrap. Adults can tuck into the gastropub’s usual pub classics, with its outdoor garden providing plenty of space for a relaxed family meal when the weather behaves.
Kargo MKT
Throughout the school holidays, families can claim one free kid’s meal for every adult dish purchased from the same food partner at Kargo MKT. Grab some food, order a drink and enjoy a rare moment of calm while the kids keep themselves busy in the children’s sandpit. That means everything from fried chicken to pizza to burgers. Valid weekdays 12-5pm.
Yard & Coop
Yard & Coop is offering free kids’ meals throughout the holidays, with a main, dessert and cordial included for every adult meal purchased. Children can choose chicken nuggets, a chicken burger or deep-fried seitan, while Lego, colouring-in and arcade games should keep them busy once the food has disappeared.
Purezza
Northern Quarter plant-based pizzeria Purezza is offering free pizzas for kids this summer holiday. For every full-paying adult, one child under 10 can choose a complimentary pizza from the children’s menu, with cheese, tomato and pepperoni options available. And, as you’d expect from Purezza, the whole lot is made entirely without meat or dairy.
Horse & Jockey
The recently restored Horse & Jockey is offering free meals from its children’s menu, with choices including sausages and mash, beef burgers, chicken goujons, and cheese and tomato pizza. From the team behind The Black Friar, the pub also has seasonal dishes for adults and outdoor seating overlooking Chorlton Green.
Zouk
Over at Zouk, between 12pm and 4pm on weekdays, one child can eat free with every paying adult main throughout the holidays. That’s dishes like grilled chicken strips, mini beef burgers, cheesy naan pizzas, chicken tikka with fries, and hummus with naan. Lovely stuff.
The Metropolitan
West Didsbury favourite The Metropolitan is offering up to two free three-course kids’ meals with every full-price adult main from Monday to Thursday. There’s loads to choose from, from pizza to fish and chips to plant-based burgers.
Ask Italian
ASK Italian is offering up to two free three-course kids’ meals with every adult main ordered, all day, every day throughout the summer holidays. The children’s menu includes happy face pizza made with wildfarmed flour dough, dip & dunk pasta and a gelato doughnut sandwich, while grown-ups can choose from the usual menu alongside summer specials including the truffle honey prosciutto pizza a mano and Aperol sangria. To claim the offer, download the free ASK Perks Rewards app and show the code when dining in. The deal can be redeemed once per day throughout the holidays.
Mollie’s Diner
Families can make the most of a weekday dining offer running throughout the summer at Mollie’s, with one child aged 10 or under eating free for every adult burger or large plate ordered. Available Monday to Friday from 2–5pm, the offer is designed for family lunches and early dinners without the usual bill. It runs until Sunday 30 August.
Black Cat Club
Not a dining deal, but they have some great family-friendly food on offer. Black Cat Club is making the school holidays a bit easier with free games for kids across its venues throughout July and August. Available every day before 5pm, families can try interactive darts and shuffleboard, with fast-paced digital games that are simple enough for first-timers but competitive enough to keep everyone interested. There’s also a food menu of nachos, burgers, wraps, small plates and sharing bits for a mid-game refuel. Children must be aged 11 and over, with up to two kids playing free per paying adult.
