A bit of pre-movie magic is landing in Manchester this April, as a new adaptation of a much-loved children’s classic arrives on screen, paired with an interactive experience designed to pull families right into its world.
To celebrate the release of The Magic Faraway Tree (starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy), a series of special screenings are taking place at the Treehouse Hotel Manchester inside its cosy Flix cinema, a 43-seat space built for proper film watching, complete with 4K projection and Dolby Atmos sound.
But the standout date is 25 April, when things go beyond the screen. Before the 11am showing, families are invited in from 10am for a hands-on experience created alongside Round The Twist, the North West arts organisation known for its playful, inclusive workshops.

The set-up leans fully into the story’s woodland setting. Guests step into a nature-inspired space within the hotel, complete with a central tree installation, timber-lined interiors and greenery overhead, designed to feel like you’ve wandered into a hidden treehouse.
From there, it’s all about getting involved. Children can write down a wish, learn a spell, and hang their creations on the branches of the tree, building a shared moment of storytelling before heading into the cinema.
Characters inspired by the film will be part of the experience too, bringing the world of the Faraway Tree to life in a way that feels tactile, imaginative and just a bit surreal in the best way, giving families a way of slowing things down, getting creative, and actually stepping into the storyworld before watching it unfold on screen.
