Marking its 10th anniversary, Góbéfest (go-bee-fest) returns with a packed weekend celebrating the music, dance, food and traditions of Central and Eastern Europe. The festival brings together headline performances from Hungarian star Ildikó Keresztes, Transylvania’s Bekecs Dance Theatre and artists spanning folk, jazz, world music, operetta and Balkan fusion, alongside dance groups from across the UK and Europe. Beyond the stages, visitors can tuck into everything from slow-cooked Hungarian goulash and Polish pierogi to freshly grilled chimney cakes and cheese-loaded lángos, while free family workshops, storytelling sessions and cultural activities run throughout the weekend. There’s also a special late-night táncház led by legendary musician Tcha Limberger, rounding off a celebration that has become one of Manchester’s most distinctive cultural festivals.
