Hello Oriental is ringing in the Lunar New Year 2026 with a full week of celebrations, mixing traditional festivities with a very modern prize at the centre of it all.
Welcoming the Year of the Horse, the programme brings together Dragon Dance performances, family-friendly activities and children’s entertainment, turning the venue into a lively hub for the New Year celebrations.
The big headline moment lands on Saturday 21 February with the launch of the ‘Great Manchester Red Envelope Hunt’. Inspired by the traditional gifting of red envelopes during Chinese New Year, the city-wide treasure hunt will see clues and locations released throughout the day via Hello Oriental’s Instagram, sending participants across Manchester in search of hidden prizes.

At the top of the prize list is a serious one. One lucky winner will eat for free at Hello Oriental for an entire year, with a weekly starter, main and drink included for 12 months. Alongside that, there will be plenty more red envelope prizes up for grabs, making it worth getting involved even if you do not strike gold straight away.
With cultural performances, activities for families and a giveaway that feels genuinely generous, Hello Oriental’s Chinese New Year celebrations are shaping up to be one of the city’s most playful and rewarding ways to mark the Lunar New Year.
