Following the successful ‘Mardi Gras’ (2020) and ‘Take Cover’ (2019) tours, New Orleans’ Grammy-nominated Hot 8 Brass Band is set to grace Manchester with their electrifying performance. The ‘Bossman Tour 2023’ is an homage to the late Bennie Pete, the band’s co-founder and sousaphone player, acknowledging his influential role as a “leader, teacher, and mentor” within the band and the wider music community. Hot 8 Brass Band plans to celebrate Bennie’s legacy and his commitment to preserving New Orleans culture, bringing the unique energy of Second Line parades to commemorate their loss. Hot 8’s genre-defying sound has led to collaborations with artists as diverse as Lauryn Hill, Alice Russell, Mos Def, and the Blind Boys of Alabama. Their achievements include a Grammy Award for their feature on John Batiste’s ‘Album of The Year’ and a ‘Best Regional Roots Album’ nomination in 2013. Hot 8 Brass Band’s recent highlights include sold-out shows at London’s Roundhouse and Brighton Dome, festival appearances from Glastonbury’s West Holts stage to BST Hyde Park, North Sea Jazz, Secret Garden Party, and WOMAD, and features on platforms such as BBC Radio 4, ITV, KCRW, Radio France, and Australia’s ABC News.
