The MAG Film Club presents, in partnership with Cinebur, its very first film screening at Manchester Art Gallery. Debuting with Mark Jenkin’s breakout film from 2019, Bait tells the story of Cornish fisherman Martin (Edward Rowe) as he tries to resist the gentrification of his local village. When a new summer holiday season begins, the increasing number of tourists and wealthy Airbnb owners continues to create a rift in the community, driving everyone towards breaking point.
‘Shot in scratchy, black and white film with over-dubbed sound, Bait is a disorientating and sensory experience that will have you grimacing in discomfort at the class differences on display.’
