MIRA film nights are back this Autumn with two different programmes of short films from Spain and Latin America. Showing at the Cervantes Institute in Manchester, the selected short-films depict various interpretations of death through Christian and indigenous myths and rituals.
The setting of these films is the rural landscape, a mystical nature that seems to have a life of its own created through the folk tales of its inhabitants. The films selected for this event are La Partida de las Imágenes (2023), Los Espantos (2022), Laguna Negra (2020) followed by a Q&A with Ana Edwards, La Partida de las Imágenes filmmaker.
Mira is an experimental film showcase and discussion with a strong focus on amplifying the voices and works of underrepresented artists. Established in 2018 in Manchester, MIRA aims to diversify the arts sector in the North West of England by increasing the visibility and inclusion of female, non-binary, LGBTQ+, and Global Majority filmmakers and audiences.
