MIRA Film Nights is a programme for experimental film showcase and discussion, with a strong focus on amplifying the voices and works of underrepresented artists. Established in 2018 in Manchester, MIRA aims to diversify the arts sector in the North West of England by increasing the visibility and inclusion of female, non-binary, LGBTQ+, and global majority filmmakers and audiences.
In November, MIRA presents Dissident Bodies at the Cervantes Institute. This short-film programme offers a glimpse into a diversity of dissident bodies, including indigenous and queer identities. Each film invites guests to challenge social norms through ritualistic dances and performances, which can be powerful tools of resistance and transformation.
