Out of Towners returns with Sheffield’s JÖRO landing in Manchester for a one-night takeover of Ancoats’ Italian bistro Bruco. On Tuesday 16 September, husband-and-wife team Luke French and Stacey Sherwood will recreate the buzz of their 19th-century mill home, bringing a tasting menu rooted in ancient techniques from Japan to Norway.

Joro

Since opening in 2016, JÖRO has become one of the UK’s most acclaimed restaurants. The first in Sheffield to earn a Michelin Bib Gourmand, now holding three AA Rosettes, a place in the 2025 Michelin Guide and six consecutive Top 100 Restaurant spots in the National Restaurant Awards. Their philosophy is all about purity, locality and craft, with dishes cooked over open flames, cured, pickled or fermented, and served in an unpretentious, theatre-like setting.

Bruco

Bruco’s loft-like dining room will be transformed into JÖRO’s intimate tasting space, with two sittings (6pm and 8:30pm), mirroring the restaurant’s relaxed, interactive service. Expect first-name introductions and a menu that champions British ingredients while drawing on Japanese and Scandinavian inspiration.

The wine flight has been curated by Berkmann Wine Cellars who are pairing the dishes with Masi, the historic Valpolicella winery known for their Amarone and mastery of the appassimento technique (drying grapes on bamboo racks to intensify flavour).
