This Sunday, HIT & RUN are doubling down – two parties in one day, one cause. By day, the action lands at Six Trees, and by night it rolls into YES. The aim? Raising funds for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) while bringing Manchester’s electronic community together for something bigger than the dancefloor.
The day session runs midday to 10:30pm (kids welcome until 6pm) and shifts into house, disco and hip-hop. It’s stacked with Manchester royalty: a historic 2.5-hour back-to-back between Luke Unabomber (Electric Chair, Homoelectric) and Mr Scruff (Ninja Tune, worldwide selector) – only the second time they’ve ever shared the decks. Expect decades of crate-digging, from soul-soaked left turns to head-spinning disco obscurities. Add in Chimpo b2b with Strategy — two of the city’s most versatile MCs/DJs/producers, plus Hacienda regular James Holroyd, Sticky Heat’s psychedelic grooves, High Hoops’ Fastlove, and collectives like Nossa! and Laura Jackson guiding the dance.

From 11pm, the party moves to YES, splitting across genres. UKG heads get Girls Don’t Sync’s Sophia Violet – part of the all-female crew reshaping the UK garage revival, alongside Danny Rankin aka DJ Decoy from cult TV and pirate radio heroes Kurupt FM. Drum & bass is no less heavyweight: Bryan Gee (V Recordings) goes back-to-back with Manchester’s own Sl8r, Doc Scott brings the Metalheadz and 31 Records legacy, and Rupture’s Mantra keeps it raw, break-led and uncompromising. Support comes from Crop Radio residents and DJs from Habitat and Me Gusta.

The project, Rhythms of Resistance, is about more than just music. It’s a united stand from some of the UK’s best DJs against the genocides in Palestine, Congo and Sudan. 100% of proceeds go directly to Doctors Without Borders, split between appeals for those three regions in crisis. It’s also a call for shared humanity at a time of deepening division in the UK.
Future events are already planned across the UK, linking promoters and local communities – but Manchester sets the tone. This Sunday is about making noise, raising funds and refusing silence.
