South By Southwest – aka SXSW. the world-renowned music, film and and media festival founded in Austin, Texas – comes to the UK for the first time, with a London event and also a roadshow right here in Manchester.
As part of its ‘commitment to connecting the next generation of innovators and creatives’, the event aims to bring together tech, music, film, TV, arts and innovation in partnership with BIMM University and non-profit tech agency Digital Catapult.
Manchester’s free events will celebrate local innovation and creativity, in the lead up to the inaugural European edition of SXSW London in June.
The day is split into two parts, and tickets to both are completely free. The day conference will take place at The Dancehouse and will dive into the latest trends and breakthroughs at the intersection of technology, entertainment, and entrepreneurship. It will guide guests into gaining the inspiration and connections to take their career to the next level.
Among those on the panel will be Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, Randel Bryan, Managing Director SXSW London, Manchester rap icon OneDa, William Wolstenholme from BBC Introducing and Factory International’s program manager Kiran Sethi.
In the evening, head over to Night and Day to discover the next wave of musical talent, reflecting Manchester’s rich and diverse creative scene. The line-up includes the likes of Noelle, The Memory Club, Malcom and July 7.
