All of the region’s best and brightest street food traders are heading to Freight Island to show off their skills in what is part of the biggest street food contest in the world.

Happening on 17 and 18 August, a northern champion will be crowned, with the winner then going on to the national finals in London in September. This year’s judges for the northern heat are Manchester’s Finest’s very own Matt White, chef Luke Payne of The Pack Horse in Hayfield and Richard Johnson, food critic and founder of the British Street Food Awards.

There are 16 vendors participating in the northern finals. They are: Rio-Mex, Syiok-Lah, Colombo Street, That Ziki, Hello Oriental and more. The winner of the national awards will go on to the European Street Food Awards in Germany later this year. Previous UK winners have included the likes of MEATliqour, BAO and Wingman.
