The Warehouse Project is bringing 20 years of Manchester dancefloor history into the daylight with a free outdoor exhibition charting its journey from Boddingtons and Store Street to Depot Mayfield. Across 20 visual works, expect raw 35mm film, Polaroids, original contact sheets, digital photography and rare archive material capturing everything from packed, strobe-lit crowds and landmark performances to the quieter backstage moments most clubbers never see.
The exhibition features work from photographers including Sebastian Matthes, Shaun Peckham, Jody Hartley, Anthony Mooney, Rob Jones, Pippa Rankin, Sophia Carey and Harriet Bols, each offering a different perspective on WHP’s evolution. It will also explore the changing graphic identity behind the club series through work by Studio Moross, Paul Hemmingfield, Katie Hamill and Joab Harrison. Alongside the exhibition, a new six-minute film, Twenty Years In Manchester, will screen daily at The Green at St. John’s, tracing the collective memories, fleeting moments and sense of belonging that have made WHP such a defining part of the city’s nightlife.
The exhibition starts at the bottom of the stairs of The Avenue, outside David Wayman Flowers/ and the ATOMECA wine bar, so kick it off from there.
