One of Manchester’s longest running spoken word nights returns to The King’s Arms in Salford this June. Verbose has a proud history of bringing together a vibrant mix of spoken word and live literature from poetry, prose and everything in between. Having won the Best Regular Spoken Word Night award in 2022, the pressure is on the new co-hosts, Alicia Fitton, Ilaria Passeri and Lisa O’Hare, to retain the title. June sees Jane Claire Bradley and Genevieve Carver as headliners. Jane Claire Bradley is an award-winning queer, working-class writer, performer and educator living in Manchester.
Genevieve Carver is a writer currently based in the Peak District. Her first poetry collection, A Beautiful Way to be Crazy (Verve Poetry Press, 2021), was based on a gig theatre production in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist live band The Unsung celebrating female experiences in the music industry.
