Manchester’s Museum of Illusions marks World Autism Month by hosting a sensory friendly day on Tuesday 29 April. Since its launch, the museum has offered bookable Sensory Sessions designed to create a welcoming and calming environment by dimming lights, lowering sound levels, and reducing sensory input for those with neurodivergent needs. On Tuesday, the entire museum will adopt these adjustments for the full day, in recognition of the importance of raising awareness of neurodiversity and ensuring visitors of all sensory profiles feel comfortable, supported and included.
The museum will also provide complimentary sensory kits (including ear defenders and fidget toys), and team members have undergone autism awareness training, are clearly identifiable and available to assist throughout the day.
