Already well establish “daawwnn saauufff”, Wing Fest are taking their first tentative steps up north with a visit to Manchester this coming September.
This two-day festival promises to turn a little slice of our city into a “poultry eating, music thumping and beer drinking” destination – complete with over 20 restaurants, street food traders, BBQ teams and pop-ups all showing off their wings.
The aim is to be crowned either ‘Best Buffalo Wing‘ or ‘Best Wild Wing‘ and to finally prove who has the UK’s best and tastiest chicken wings.
There’ll be a whole host of traders getting involved, with the likes of Drum and Flats, We Serve Humans and three-time winner of the People’s Choice Champions award; Wingmans making an appearance. There’ll also be competition from local wing producers such as Oh My Glaze, Flock, Sutikku and Parmogeddon, with many more still to be announced.
Personally I’d like to see Manchester wing legends Bunny Jackson’s get involved – I’m 100% positive they’d win any and all awards when it comes to their chicken prowess. Come on lads – let’s see it!
You’ll also find Dr Sweetsmoke’s legendary Lava Wing Challenge at the festival – a chance for you to brave some of the hottest wings known to man, as well as a rather enticing sounding Wing Eating Competition.
On top of all this there’ll be live music from local blues bands, DJs, as well as axe throwing and BBQ cooking demonstrations across the weekend.
Wing Fest will comprise of two stages, bars, and a jam-packed schedule of live music, cooking demonstrations and eating competitions. And with each ticket including a free can of Frontier Premium Lager, a bottle of Bull’s-Eye BBQ sauce, as well as the signature Wing Fest Trucker Hat.
