For many, New Year’s Eve is THE night. Mainly the night that they never remember, as it’s spent drinking far too many flutes of champagne and belting out David Bowie classics on karaoke.

For others, it’s a nightmare, opting to spend it curled up in front of The Big Fat Quiz of the Year instead, with the remnants of a box of Twiglets and a disgruntled stare into the abyss of the Pure Gym homepage.

But across Manchester, bars and restaurants are partaking in the annual celebrations, toasting in 2023 with hope, curiosity and optimism – as well as a shit load of fizz. Whether you want a chilled evening with a plate of oysters and your closest mates, or a mammoth 90s rave, our round-up will offer you something to suit your needs.

And if you’re spending it at home, the soaps often serve as a nail biting pastime ahead of the clock striking midnight.
