La Bandera is Manchester’s only restaurant that creates authentic Canarian dishes, and so we’ve team up with them to create a tasting experience that is a lot different to most Spanish restaurants you will have tried in the city.
We’ll be serving up a 10 course extravaganza that will transport you away from rainy, cold Manchester to a hot, sandy beach in the middle of the Atlantic! You’ll have the option to pair the dishes with some amazing Canarian wines.
Canarian food is so unique to it’s islands and so for La Bandera to bring that taste to Manchester it takes a lot of love and effort. For instance Gofio (a Canarian flour made from roasted grains) is used in three of the dishes, and Yashin, La Bandera’s owner, has to make bi-monthly trips over to bring this back to use in the restaurant.
Dishes include Pulpo en dos Cocciones – a twice cooked octopus on a bed of paprika mash and topped with mojo rojo, and the Pollo ‘Los Asadores’, which takes its inspiration from a small but world-renowned chicken restaurant in Tenerife.
Every single dish on this menu tells a story, and these will be told to guests as they are presented in 5 waves. As mentioned above, each wave also has the option to be paired with a Canarian wine. Home to over 100 different micro-climates across the islands, the Canaries have proved to be an excellent place for growing grapes, with Canarian wine often being highly regarded within the wine community.
La Bandera is the only place in the city where you can try these fantastic (and unique) wines, all of which come from small, family owned vineyards on the islands. These will make the perfect pairing to these stunning dishes which will make this night one you will never forget.
