The smart, dark-green fronted shops on Port Street in the Northern Quarter are always home to some of our city’s most interesting independents, from alternative nail studios to architectural book shops. Herveda – a brand new ‘ holistic beauty destination’ – is no different.
Just opened by founder Nicole Fitzgerald, Herveda features all the modern, scientific looking products you might expect from a high end beauty store, but here they have one big difference – everything they do is steeped in the ancient holistic practice of Ayurveda.
Simply put, Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of health that focuses on achieving physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. It focuses on the idea of the ‘three Doshas’ (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and bringing them into balance through a personalised diet and herbal remedies.

Unsurprisingly, it has become huge in the skincare world too. Working alongside Nicole is Amy, who has studied philosophy in India. You can book in for a consultation, where you receive a pulse diagnosis and skin analysis to determine your Dosha, all while relaxing and enjoying a herbal tea. This will be followed by a curated selection of Dosha-balancing skincare products, and a bespoke skincare treatment plan with follow-up guidance.
There’s also the opportunity to explore aromatherapy too. Each session has a set price of £50, which includes a goodie bag filled with £100 worth of products. Herveda will also offer events, workshops, tutorials, podcasts, articles and much more, all centred around this powerful ancient practice.

Amy Reyes said: “Our aim is for the Herveda consultations to feel like a bespoke personal shopping experience for your skin, all with the aim of addressing any skincare concerns to bring balance and harmony to your skin.”
