Each and every Wednesday at Electrik of Chorlton you can find some of the city’s best and brightest record collectors and crate diggers, who are invited down to play whatever they want in entirety with no mixing, headphones, scratching or beat juggling, it’s strictly just about the music.
A Certain Ratio were formed in 1977 by bassist Jeremy Kerr, guitarist/trumpeter Martin Moscrop, guitarist Peter Terrell, and vocalist/trumpeter Simon Topping and were quickly signed up to Tony Wilson’s Factory label.
They debuted with 7″ single ‘All Night Party’ in 1979, following up with 5 successful albums throughout the 80’s and early 90’s. They returned to the studio in 2008 with ‘Mind Made Up’ and have since continued to perform all of their back catalogue (and new stuff) around the country.
This Wednesday will see Jeremy and Martin hit the deck in Electrik, and it’s fair to say that you should expect a rather impressive selection of vinyl under their arms when they arrive. Just like most One Deck’s there’s no guarantee of what they’ll play – just sit back and enjoy the music.
Each Wednesday also sees Electrik run their brilliant Pizza Giro night, where you can take advantage of non-stop pizza for 4 hours between 5pm and 9pm for just £5.
