Sankeys – Friday 24th & Saturday 25th June

The final weekend of June for Sankeys sees another double header of stars slotted in. TFiF’s pulsating main room selection of pumping house and electro is countered by the stripped back seduction of Kaluki’s new weekly residency at the club, as they invite the cream of the techno and house music circles each and every Saturday. It ensures a delectably balanced ensemble of the best four to the floor music anywhere on the globe, a planetary party of epic proportions.

Headlining this week for TFiF are Brighton badboys Prok & Fitch. Only together for just over five years, the partnership of these two previously musically triumphant artists has been one of the biggest blossoming successes of British electronic music. Running their Floorplay imprint together (as well as a successful clubnight of the same name), the duo have also remixed stone cold legends of dance music like Todd Terry and Cevin Fisher and smashed dancefloors across the globe.

Joining them will be Jason Herd. Herd is one of the UK clubscene’s enduring figures, with a brilliant track record in producing vocal house music (Azuli and Subliminal have released his productions and Morillo and Sanchez are previous co-producers) married to frequent appearances at powerhouses like Kinky Malinki and Moneypennys alongside international dates at Pacha (Ibiza, Egypt and New York among them) and many more clubs. Something of a Manchester legend, he’s been a prominent radio personality in the city, ran a long-running and much loved institution in 2Risque and is still a huge draw in these parts.

The day after and it’s the turn of Sankeys to welcome over some heroes from just over the Pennines, with Leeds infiltrating the Mancunian hotspot for one night only. There may be rivalries in other forms of life, but in the context of house and techno Manchester and Leeds has always been kindred spirits, sharing and exchanging ideas for twenty years whilst maintaining a friendly rivalry that has spurred either side on. Sankeys continue that rich relationship by welcoming over two of the city’s brightest hopes, Burnski and Robert James.

Since exploding on Trapez back in 2005 Burnski the producer has had that little bit extra compared to his peers. Dropping a series of left of centre records on 2020 Vision, Dessous, Plastic City and Poker Flat and revered every facet of the house and techno community, he has blossomed further as a DJ. A residency at hedonists’ paradise Back to Basics led to gigs at Fabric, Berlin’s PanoramaBar, Barcelona’s Loft and of course the Ibizan usual suspects, all falling over themselves to get this staunch vinyl supporter behind their decks.

And James is equally as well regarded, playing at clubs as diverse as Mint Club, Space, Amsterdam’s Trouw and Berlin’s Watergate, recording for Lee Curtiss and Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations imprint, and picking up acclaim from everyone from Pete Tong to Mixmag along the way. As ever the Kaluki all-stars are in full support to ensure the grooves are swinging from the off.

Kaluki promoter and resident Ellesse also stars, and Treehouse presents Alex Arnout, Plastic Co. and Jay Smith.
