On Sunday 1st April, The Albert Hall is proud to welcome one of the greatest underground ‘roots house music’ party organisers active in Manchester today – Community – which was founded by Irfan Rainy, has held true the ethos of how dance music can, and should, be played with depth and variety.

The line-up includes a plethora of the world’s finest selectors on the circuit today, including Motor City Drum Ensemble. Commonly known as MCDE, or his real name, Danilo Plessow, regularly headlines at esteemed festivals such as Dekmantel and Dimensions, and a string of acclaimed releases on his own MCDE imprint, Danilo is a DJ very much in high demand. His Gorilla show a couple of years back sold out well in advance, and his stock has only risen since then.

Two special live performances include a musician of many talents, Kamaal Williams. Co-founder of Yussef Kamaal – Jazz FM’s Best Breakthrough Act of 2017 and championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Benji B and Alexander Nut – Their debut album Black Focus remains a cornerstone of scores of DJs’ record bags across the globe.

For the second live performance, Dele Sosimi, a Nigerian-British musician who has in the past worked with Afrobeat pioneers Fela Kuti and Tony Allen. Performing as part of a 15-piece orchestra, Dele takes on an extensive touring schedule and has breathed new life into modern day Afrobeat.

Additional DJs include, Henry Wu (the alter-ego of Kamaal Williams) returns to the stage as, his impressive solo moniker. As a producer, his output has reached familiar labels such as 22a, Eglo Records, and Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section, but behind the decks, however, he’s built himself the reputation of a fearless selector, effortlessly breezing through genres.

Last, but by no means least, Irfan Rainy, the curator of this event, will support the line-up in a way that any truly established resident DJ can. His talent has stemmed from Irfan’s background, a deep collector since ’86, a successful producer in his own right,  founder of Manchester’s most seminal house music labels – Rainy City Music, and host to countless artists at his critically acclaimed night.

To experience this truly magical line-up of roots dance music, played by the world’s best DJs and live performers… this is the only place to be this Easter weekend.
